Malaysia’s total trade surged 37.3% year-on-year to RM364.7 billion in July, while exports climbed 38% to RM193.6 billion. The country recorded a RM22.5 billion trade surplus, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia.
Why it matters: Strong exports support factories, jobs, business investment and the wider economy. But a booming trade number does not automatically mean household incomes rise at the same pace.
